‘I’ve really enjoyed being a Judge on the Isle of Wight Book Awards, especially as I got to judge the children’s category being of a very junior mind, so it’s my delight to tell you the top three prizes go to, in reverse order.
Third prize goes to ‘A Red Sky’ by Jo Cooper, a good sense of time and place I thought and a sympathetic central character, I always like one of those that I can identify. There are many touching moments and childhood adventures of the kind that were experienced during wartime on the Island. So well done Jo.’
