I love receiving letters. I love the sound of the letter box flap opening and the gentle thud of mail dropping on the doormat. This sound is not so previlent now adays. I am more likely to receive a email or text! There is something quite special, in opening the envelope, removing the contents and unfolding the paper. When I was in Paris as a student in the 1960s, I wrote to my mother, at least once a week. She loved receiving them, and kept all my letters.

In the war years, letters played an very important part. I wrote about letters being exchanged between Lindy and her father. He drew pin men pictures on his. Lindy had to work out what he was saying, because his news was drawn, Readers of this will remember the days before emails when the postmen were seen more often. Sometime twice a day!
So you can imagine my joy when last week, I received two letters. One from Angela Shoulders which was attached to another from her Grand daughter, Elizabeth Griffin. We had met at Chale in August, when Angela brought ‘A Red Sky as a Christmas Present for Grand daughter.
Elizabeth enjoyed A Red Sky and Angela wanted to buy the rest of the series for her, and so she called at our house and bought them. I do hope you like the other two in the trilogy. My latest book is called All about Peggy, the Red Cross Nurse who appears in the other books. . It tells the story of the same time frame as the other books, but from her perspective, and also relates her love story with the Fireman Brian and their subsequent wedding.
